During the yearly DLG awards held in Germany, no fewer than eight cheeses from cheesemaker Henri Willig were awarded prizes. This included gold for the complete engraved cheese collection of the Willig family. The Henri Willig Green Pesto and Henri Willig Organic Cow Truffle were also awarded a Gold medal. Henri Willig’s Gouda Young cheese won a silver medal.
Willig family’s golden cheese collection
A gold medal was awarded to each cheese from the Willig family’s exclusive engraved cheese collection, featuring a personal favorite from each family member. Each of these cheeses has a unique taste, made from the highest quality milk of cows, goats and sheep. “We are proud of the fact that the quality and taste of each of our favorite cheeses has been recognized by the DLG, with the Henri Willig Pure Gold and Pure Perfection even attaining the highest possible score” says Martin Willig, financial director at Henri Willig.
Every year, the DLG tests hundreds of cheeses for their quality. Aside from a detailed laboratory test, the cheeses are judged for their look, smell, taste, and consistency of the cheese’s structure and texture. The taste weighs most heavily in the awarding of DLG medals.
