Easter is the perfect time to gather around the table together. With your family, relatives or friends. And honestly? A cosy Easter breakfast starts with great food. Fresh bread rolls, eggs… and of course cheese that adds that little something extra.

Are you looking for an original Easter breakfast, or simply some inspiration for a cosy Easter breakfast with the kids, family or friends? Then we’re happy to help you get started.

Easter breakfast with cheese from Henri Willig

What belongs in a traditional Easter breakfast?

A classic Easter breakfast often includes:

  • Fresh bread rolls and croissants
  • Boiled eggs or stuffed eggs
  • Easter stollen with almond paste
  • Sweet spreads such as jam and honey
  • Fresh juices
  • And… a lovely selection of cheeses

Want to make it extra festive? Combine soft, creamy cheeses with a slightly stronger or more matured variety. That way there’s something tasty for everyone.

Tip: For an Easter brunch, allow around 50–75 grams of cheese per person.

How do you put together a festive Easter breakfast?

Think in three steps:

1. Choose your moment

Is it a family breakfast? A brunch with friends? Or Easter drinks later in the day?

First decide how elaborate you want it to be. Do you want a calm start with fresh rolls and boiled eggs? Or do you go all out with several small dishes and a big board in the middle of the table?

For a cosy brunch or get-together where everyone can taste a little of everything, a beautiful cheese board is always a great idea. See how to make a festive Easter snack board.

That way you combine different flavours and create a real showstopper on the table with hardly any effort.

2. Play with colour (it’s springtime!)

Easter calls for colour:

  • Golden cheeses
  • Fresh green herbs
  • Radishes
  • Grapes or strawberries
  • Edible flowers

In just a few minutes you’ll have a table that looks like it came straight from a magazine.

3. Make it personal

Add something playful for children, such as Easter cheese chicks.

Fun to make together — and guaranteed to be a hit at the table.

What shouldn’t be missing from an Easter breakfast?

If you ask us: great cheese.

For example:

  • A mild young cheese for the kids
  • A creamy goat’s cheese for cheese lovers
  • An older, slightly saltier cheese to pair with Easter stollen

What can’t be missing on the Easter table? Artisanal spring cheeses. In spring, cheeses like goat’s cheese and sheep’s cheese are at their best: soft, fresh and perfect for lighter dishes. In this blog we share recipes to help you put the tastiest Easter breakfast on the table!

1. Croissants with soft coconut cheese, honey and walnut

A classic with a twist. Serve freshly baked croissants with soft coconut cheese, caramelised walnuts and ginger (orange) jam for a sweet-and-savoury flavour. This combination is not only delicious and easy to make — it also looks beautiful on the table.

2. Mini cheese rolls with herb & garlic cheese

Make these savoury rolls using Kaiser rolls as the base. Cut off the top and carefully hollow them out. Spread the inside with Henri Willig Chefs Selection Roasted Tomato Cheese Dip and top with Parma ham. Then crack an egg into the hollow and grate fenugreek cheese over the top. Bake for about 20 to 25 minutes until golden and cooked through.

3. Fresh pesto cheese salad

A tasty sandwich filling is always a good idea! This pesto cheese salad with fenugreek cheese, low-fat quark, pesto, vinegar and Henri Willig Honey Mustard is quick to make and seriously delicious. Simply mix everything together in a bowl and finish with a few slices of fenugreek cheese on top.

Original Easter breakfast idea: combine sweet & savoury

The trend right now? Sweet and savoury together.

Think of:

  • Matured cheese with fig mustard
  • Cheese cubes with a drizzle of honey
  • Cheese served with nut bread or date bread

An Easter snack board is perfect for this. It instantly turns a standard Easter breakfast into something special.

How do you make an Easter breakfast you can prepare in advance?

No one wants stress in the kitchen on Easter Sunday.

What can you do ahead of time?

  • Assemble your cheese board in advance (well covered in the fridge)
  • Wash and slice vegetables and fruit
  • Boil the eggs in advance
  • Set out plates and serving dishes

Take the cheese out of the fridge about 30 minutes before serving. That’s when the flavours really come through best.

What is an affordable Easter breakfast?

A festive Easter breakfast doesn’t have to be expensive.
