The small town of Edam is world-famous for its round Edam cheese. Centuries ago, the famous round Edam cheeses were shipped from Edam to all corners of the world. In the historic weighing house the Kaaswaag, dating from the 18th century, you go back in time. In the square in front of the Cheese Weighhouse, you can attend cheese-carrying demonstrations every week during the summer months. (Unfortunately this is not possible this year due to Covid-19).
In The Story of Edam cheese the whole story of Edam cheese is told in a centuries-old and beautifully restored building. Click here for more information.
